Join us for the Lombard Historical Society’s Annual Meeting on April 23. The evening begins with highlights from 2024, our Board of Management elections at 6:00 PM, followed by a compelling program at 6:30 PM.
This year’s program, presented by Vivien Lasken, Director of the Fabyan Villa & Japanese Garden, explores the groundbreaking work of Elizebeth Smith Friedman, a pioneer in cryptanalysis whose codebreaking skills played a crucial role in American intelligence efforts.
Friedman’s career in cryptography has an intriguing connection to Col. William Plum, a Civil War telegrapher who served under General Thomas. Plum’s expertise in military communication and wartime encryption laid the groundwork for the very field that Friedman would later revolutionize.
This is a hybrid program—join us in person or online!
Space is limited. Register by April 21 at lombardhistory.org or call 630-629-1885.
