This concert weaves together Carl Sandburg’s poetry and American folksongs to bring to life one of America’s best loved poetic giants. Known around the world, Sandburg literally defines the essence of American life with his stunning free verse poetry and prose and music.
Barry Cloyd has a self-described fascination for the music, poetry and life of Carl Sandburg, who from humble beginnings as the son of an illiterate Swedish blacksmith in Galesburg, Illinois, rose to become a two-time Pulitzer prize winner.
Barry is a Midwestern based, full-time touring singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist who performs more than 150 shows of all types per year. In addition to a touring concert schedule, he has been the resident stringed instrumentalist/vocalist on The Spirit of Peoria Paddlewheel Riverboat for 21 years, traveling the inland waterways, the Mississippi & Illinois Rivers.
He has shared the stage & recorded with many stars of the Blues and Americana worlds including members of Buddy Guy's Band, The Byrds, Stephen Still's, EmmyLou Harris', The Oak Ridge Boys, John Denver's and Dan Fogelberg's Bands.
