Seeking Old Charley-Lecture

  • SHeldon Peck Homestead 355 East Parkside Avenue Lombard, IL, 60148 United States (map)

"A Freedom Seeker named "Charley," (located at least seven times in the historic record all over Illinois), has links to abolitionists such as Sheldon Peck, but what do we really know about Charley?

Join the Lombard Historical Society to hear stories of the Underground Railroad across Illinois, through Charley's perspective, providing insight into the injustice inherent within the institution of slavery.

The Peck Homestead is registered on the National Park Service Network to Freedom as a verified stop on the Underground Railroad. Sheldon Peck was an abolitionist and an itinerant folk artist. This home tells the story of folk art through the eyes of Sheldon Peck. Visit the gallery telling the story of the abolitionist movement in the Chicago area.
